Traditional methods for classifying millions of quasars require substantial time and resources to obtain spectra, while photometric light curves are irregularly sampled and difficult to analyze. The researchers applied Slepian Wavelet Variance to irregularly sampled light curves from the Zwicky Transient Facility and used agglomerative hierarchical clustering to group quasars from the MILLIQUAS catalogue.
