Can measuring a foot tap predict someone's overall mobility?

Assessing a person's functional mobility often requires tests that need special space and trained personnel, making them difficult to use for routine assessment. Researchers had 78 adults perform a 30-second foot-tapping test while wearing accelerometers to see if this movement data could predict their times on standard mobility evaluations.
